Donald Trump's attacks on his Democratic rival's health have drawn fresh scrutiny of his own medical history.

In posts on CNN and the New York Times on Tuesday, questions were raised about the quality of information the GOP nominee has previously released on his health — and his current status.

Last December, the candidate released a few paragraphs from his personal doctor, gastroenterologist Dr. Harold Bornstein, describing his blood pressure and lab results as "astonishingly excellent" while suggesting a President Trump would be the "healthiest individual ever elected."

Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who is CNN's chief medical correspondent, described the synopsis as "very unusual."

"I don't even know what to make of this letter," he said.

"Whether you are a doctor or not, that degree of hyperbole and these words being used is very unusual. People don't write like that. ... 'Strength and stamina are extraordinary' -- what does that mean, exactly?"

Trump's aversion to liquor and smoking is well-documented, CNN notes, citing biographer Michael D'Antonio's "Never Enough: Donald Trump and the Pursuit of Success" states Trump at Fordham University set himself apart "by his refusal to drink or smoke cigarettes, let alone experiment with the drugs that were increasingly evident on American campuses."

And though Trump — who is fond of both McDonald's and KFC, CNN reports — bragged last December to People magazine  that he dropped "15 lbs. on the campaign trail," the New York Times Tuesday reported it was "the opinion of some friends of Mr. Trump that he has gained weight recently."
