Donald Trump Wednesday denied claims of division among his top campaign aides, saying in multiple interviews that campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and convention manager Paul Manafort "get along great," according to
The Hill.
"Paul actually gets along very well with Corey," Trump said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program. "They have separate functions."
On Fox News' "Fox & Friends," program Trump said there really "is harmony behind the scenes," reports The Hill.
Trump also denied a report from
Politico on Tuesday that said he was shifting responsibilities back to Lewandowski amid tension between him and Manafort.
The Politico report noted that Trump had bristled at Manafort's comment to Republican committee leaders that he was "playing a part."
The real estate mogul credited Manafort for his job performance, calling Politico's report "so false."
Trump on Wednesday morning told CNN's "New Day" program that he doesn't want to change his brash style and wants to maintain some flexibility, reports The Hill.
During his victory speech, after sweeping five primaries, Trump said, "Why would I change? If you are a football team and you are winning and you get to the Super Bowl, you don't change the quarterback."
"Trump has always been Trump and always said he'll get super presidential when he needs to,"
Talking Points Memo publisher Josh Marshall said.
