Donald Trump: Democrats Lost Because Their 'Product Is Bad'

By    |   Monday, 10 November 2014 12:06 PM EST

Democrats didn't lose in the midterm elections because they failed to deliver their message to voters, but lost their majority in the Senate, several House seats, and numerous governorships because their "product is bad," real estate and entertainment billionaire Donald Trump told "Fox & Friends."

President Barack Obama on Sunday explained to CBS' "Face the Nation" that Democrats "have not been successful in going out there and letting people know what it is that we're trying to do, and why this is the right direction" for the country.

Trump said it was the product, and not the salesman, that persuaded people.

"Some things can't be sold, and it doesn't matter if it's a good salesman or bad. I always say, my product is a much better salesman," Trump said Monday. "The fact is that I don't know if he's a good salesman or not, but his product is bad."

Trump said Obama was "virtually in denial" about the reasons why Democrats lost, and that the president "doesn't realize what's going on." However, he said the president "thinks that a lot of the things he's doing are right," even though many were not.

With a Republican majority in the House and Senate, Trump predicted it would be "very interesting to see how the Republicans and (Obama) get along for the next two years." He predicted the president would work with Republicans on legislation, such as approving the Keystone XL pipeline.

"I have a feeling that he will start approving certain things. They're going to put bills before him, and I actually think he's going to sign more than he's not going to sign," Trump said.
