Crossroads Media founder Mike Dubke will be named as the White House communications director, taking over duties now being handled in by Press Secretary Sean Spicer in a dual role, multiple reports said early Friday, citing unnamed sources.

Dubke would fill the void left by the resignation of Jason Miller soon after his selection in December, reports Fox NewsCNN also reported Dubke's impending appointment.

Miller was a longtime spokesman for President Donald Trump's campaign and for the transition team. He stepped down just two days after an announcement that he was being made communications director and an assistant to the president.

According to Dubke's bio on the website for Crossroads Media, a major media placement firm based in Alexandria, Virginia, he has been involved with politics on the local, state, and federal levels since 1988. Dubke is also a founding partner for the Black Rock Group, a strategic communications and public affairs firm in Alexandria.

CNN reports Dubke's appointment could be announced as early as Friday, and that the hiring is causings some grumblings inside the White House, with loyalists saying they would rather have someone from Trump's campaign in the seat.

"Dubke and his Crossroads friends did everything they could to kill the Trump movement and failed," an unnamed loyalist said, according to CNN.

Spicer has served as both White House press secretary and communications director, a role usually filled by two separate appointees.
