Attacking The New York Times for endorsing Hillary Clinton's bid for the White House, Donald Trump's campaign blasted the media organization for extending support to an "ultra-elitist, out-of-touch candidate."

"The sun also rose in the east this morning," Trump's campaign said on Sunday in a press release, the Washington Examiner reported.

Trump communications adviser Jason Miller also alleged that the newspaper itself was an "embodiment of the rigged system Donald Trump is running against."

Miller continued his attack on the editorial board saying what ultimately mattered to the Republicans was the endorsement of regular voters as the media group cared only "about the plaudits they receive at cocktail parties and dinners in the power corridors of this country."

The Times described Clinton as "one of the most tenacious politicians of her generation" and said she has displayed a command of policy and diplomatic nuance while building a reputation for grit and bipartisan cooperation, according to Reuters.

"Our endorsement is rooted in respect for her intellect, experience, toughness and courage over a career of almost continuous public service, often as the first or only woman in the arena," the editorial board wrote.

The editorial minced no words as it called Trump the "worst nominee put forward by a major party in modern American history" before declaring that "the best case for Hillary Clinton cannot be, and is not, that she isn't Donald Trump."

"The best case is, instead, about the challenges this country faces, and Mrs. Clinton's capacity to rise to them," the board wrote.

"A comparison like that would be an empty exercise in a race where one candidate — our choice, Hillary Clinton — has a record of service and a raft of pragmatic ideas, and the other, Donald Trump, discloses nothing concrete about himself or his plans while promising the moon and offering the stars on layaway," they wrote.

The endorsement from the Times editorial board is no surprise as it has always vouched for Democratic nominees.
