The reelection campaign for President Donald Trump is pulling millions of dollars from its television ad spending meant to draw Midwestern voters.
Since September, data firm Advertising Analytics reported that the Trump campaign has trimmed roughly $2 million in ads in Wisconsin and Michigan, according to Buzzfeed.
The campaign pulled $5 million from the planned fall television ad spending in Minnesota, a state Trump only lost by two percentage points in 2016.
“It’s cute that Joe Biden and his campaign think buying ads in these states makes up for years of Democrats viewing them as flyover country,” Trump campaign spokesperson Samantha Zager told The Hill in a statement on Wednesday.
“If overspending on TV ads determined the outcome of elections, Hillary Clinton would be president,” Zager said.
In August, the campaign for Democratic nominee Joe Biden and the Democratic National Committee hauled in about $150 million more than Trump's campaign and the Republican National Committee.
“Biden can try to buy votes, but President Trump and his campaign will continue earning them on the ground and on the airwaves — and come November, we’ll be celebrating victory while Biden binge watches his TV ads from his basement,” Zager said.
