Brad Parscale, President Donald Trump’s campaign manager, slammed CNN reporter Jim Acosta, saying his press credentials should be removed because of his questions to Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un while the leaders signed an agreement Tuesday.
"Jim Acosta should have his press credentials suspended. He is an absolute disgrace," Parscale tweeted.
Acosta asked questions during the signing, asking, “Mr. President, did we agree to denuclearize?” He also asked if Otto Warmbier, the student who was imprisoned in North Korea and died shortly after being returned to the U.S., had been discussed, Newsweek reported.
The CNN reporter’s questions were relevant to the summit and its impact, and it is common for reporters to yell questions during ceremonies or appearances before the press, Newsweek’s report said.
Trump has taken aim at Acosta and the media before. He said to Acosta, "You are fake news" in Jan. 2017.
After the summit, Trump took a question from Acosta about the meeting. Trump told Acosta to "be nice, be respectful," CNN reported.
"Very fair question," Trump said, after Acosta asked if North Korea had given assurances about whether they would hold to any deal.
