President Donald Trump's approval rating dropped to 32 percent while 59 percent disapprove of the job he's doing, a new IBD/TIPP poll revealed.
His approval rating is a new low for Trump, who has seen it drop by 5 percentage points since July, according to the poll, which is a collaboration between Investor's Business Daily and TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence.
Here are the survey highlights:
- Seventy-one percent of Republicans polled approve of the job he's doing as president, compared to 83 percent who were in favor in July.
- Sixty-five percent of those following the Russia investigations closely, believe members of Trump's campaign colluded with Moscow.
- Forty-seven percent say talk of impeaching Trump is appropriate, while 50 percent say it is premature.
"Despite Americans' optimism regarding the economy, multiple factors are collectively offsetting the boost that the economy should be giving Trump, and driving down his approval rating," said Raghavan Mayur, president of TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence.
"Congress' failure to repeal Obamacare has upset even some Republicans. The appearance of disarray within the White House has created a sense of uncertainty and puzzlement among Americans.
"Trump's skirmish with Attorney General (Jeff) Sessions did not go well with many conservatives, and former communications director Anthony Scaramucci's vulgar exchange with a reporter upset many. On top of this, the daily dose of insinuations from the media regarding collusion with Russia also help to explain the low approval rating."
The poll, conducted from July 28-Aug. 5, surveyed 904 people. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
The Russia and impeachment questions were limited to 611 people, who said they were familiar with the issues. Those responses have a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
