The Trump administration does not support the Supreme Court taking up a case between American citizens and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), saying it does meet the standards of due process.

The nation's high court is considering whether to accept Sokolow v. Palestine Liberation Organization, a decision it will announce by March 29. The case was filed by U.S. citizens injured in and family members of Americans killed in terror attacks carried out by the PLO and the Palestinian Authority.

In a statement to The Times of Israel, the Department of Justice said it supports the victims but that it does not think the case warrants intervention by the Supreme Court.

"The United States condemns acts of terror in the strongest terms and the Department of Justice is committed to prosecuting those who commit terrorist attacks against innocent human beings to the fullest extent that the law allows," the statement reads.

"The United States sympathizes deeply with the American families who, in 2004, sued the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization for acts of terrorism committed against their loved ones between 2002 and 2004. The court of appeals decided, however, that the suit was not consistent with due process under the Constitution, and its decision does not meet the usual standards for Supreme Court review."

The case stems from several shooting and bombing attacks in 2002 and 2004 in Jerusalem. A combined 33 people were killed and several dozen were wounded. Americans were among the victims.
