Former Sen. Tom Coburn Calls Trump's Tweet 'Unpresidential'

("New Day"/Twitter)

Former Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn called on Donald Trump to become more presidential and tone down his tweets.

"At some point in time the president is going to have to turn to become more presidential," Coburn, a Republican, told CNN's "New Day" program.

His comments came after Trump responded on Twitter to Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., saying he did not believe Trump is a "legitimate president."

Coburn added: "We've seen this pattern through his entire campaign, where he controls the talking points by using Twitter to counter someone else's assertions. I think it's unfortunate that Congressman Lewis said that he's not legitimate because there's no basis in fact for that."

But he added Trump's tweet was "not presidential."
