Rep. Burchett to Newsmax: D.C. 'An Open Sewer,' Not a 'Swamp'

By    |   Tuesday, 19 December 2023 04:02 PM EST

The scandal concerning a Senate aide who was fired over the weekend after being seen in a graphic sex video recorded in a hearing room will likely get "brushed under the rug" like other Washington, D.C., matters do, Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., told Newsmax on Tuesday.

"I wish they would quit calling Washington, D.C., the swamp," Burchett told "Newsline." "It is an open sewer, and we better start treating it that way."

But scandals such as that involving the aide, Aidan Maese-Czeropski, who was fired after the tape surfaced, "get brushed under because the legacy media has so much invested in the far-left Marxist propaganda machine that they will destroy this country, and they will continue to do that if Americans just don't get off their butts on Election Day," Burchett said.

"You know you're going to sit there, and you'll be watching 'The View' instead of getting off your tails and getting to the polls," Burchett added. "When 20 million, so-called evangelical Christians decide to stay home on Election Day because of a mean tweet that affects everything. That affects our school boards. You wonder why a mother going to a school board meeting and complaining about their child being taught basically pornography in the classroom [is] labeled by our own FBI as a domestic terrorist, that's how far down the rabbit hole we've gone."

Burchett also commented on reports that lawmakers are pessimistic about reaching a deal on Ukraine funding and border security before Christmas and said that Americans are tired of compromising.

"Eight million people, the size of Tennessee, have come over this border in the last three years," he said. "Over 100,000 children are there. They're being welcomed in, and the sad truth is that they're not telling you is that they'll get to this country and they'll be treated better than our dadgum veterans are, and they'll kick veterans out of out of homes out of housing so the illegals can come in and stay for free and then be paid and be given a supplement."

Republicans, he said, must "ignite" the capitalism the left is trying to "destroy with their Marxist policies because they hate this country … they hate everything about it."

Further, Burchett said there are not many women and children among the immigrants, but instead, military men.

"There is something going on and we better be very careful about it," he said.
