Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., said he will join Hillary Clinton on an upcoming "thank you" tour, the Democratic vice presidential nominee said in an interview Thursday with a Washington, D.C., TV station.
"We're continuing to be together, we're going to do some thank you events here in the next couple of weeks," Kaine told Fox 5-TV.
Kaine said his belief all along was Clinton was the underdog.
"I really was holding my expectations down," Kaine told Fox 5. "I always felt like Hillary was the underdog, frankly, because she's trying to be a woman president – and we never had one. . . . I kept telling everybody, I don't care what the polls say, you're the underdog."
But the "head fake" came with Kaine's home state of Virginia, a state Clinton won by bigger margins better than President Obama in 2012.
"Then I started to get in a good mood," Kaine said. "By 9:30 again . . . we were looking at other states, and it was challenging."
