Former Texas state Sen. Don Huffines will dish out $5,000 for any tips related to voter fraud in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that result in criminal convictions.

The former lawmaker told Fox News he is offering up the reward because he wants to make sure the country has “fair and honest elections.”

"This is a nonpartisan issue," he said. "The most important thing that really matters in an election is who counts the votes."

In order to be eligible to receive a reward, tipsters must call or email Direct Action Texas, an election integrity organization. All tips will be kept confidential.

Huffines said his offer is intended to help track down ballot harvesting, noncitizens voting, and software manipulation.

"I'm happy to pay it," Huffines said. "Hopefully I don’t have to, but I am committed to doing what I can."

According to Fox News, Texas has experienced claims of voter fraud. Last month, a retired police officer and poll watcher submitted a sworn affidavit to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office alleging that he saw an election judge and staff members committing voter fraud.

A Texas mayoral candidate was arrested after allegedly sending 84 applications for mail-in ballots.
