Democrats in the House would be better off ending the session now and hitting the campaign trail to save their threatened jobs, says Rep. John Tanner, D-Tenn. Tanner, the leading House moderate among Democrats, is retiring after 11 terms in office, according to a
Rollcall report.
Democrats are contemplating a vote on Bush era tax cuts, but given “the Senate’s inability to come to grips with anything,” they’d be better off leaving town, Tanner tells Roll Call.
“I think probably the best thing to do now is just go home,” he said. “None of this that I’ve heard has any more urgency now than it would in November when we come back.”
