Hedge fund heavy Paul Singer, one of the Republican Party’s top fundraising bundlers, has decided to put his services to work for presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
Singer, CEO of Elliott Management Corp., had previously sought a Chris Christie candidacy,
Politico reports.
Singer was one of Rudy Giuliani’s top bundlers in his 2008 presidential campaign. Singer’s chairman of the esteemed conservative think tank the Manhattan Institute, so he carries policy credibility as well as a big wallet and Rolodex.
Singer already has begun contacting his network of donors. A knowledgeable source told Politico that Singer wrote in a note, “I have held back as the presidential election landscape has taken shape over a period of months. At this time, however, the field is set. We know the pool of candidates from which the Republican nominee will emerge. And in my judgment the best choice is Mitt Romney.”
