Mike Bloomberg is the leading candidate for president in the state of New York, but most voters there think President Donald Trump will be re-elected in November, according to a new poll.
Key results in the latest Siena College survey:
- In a hypothetical general election matchup, Bloomberg beats Trump, 58% to 33%.
- Pete Buttigieg beats Trump, 56% to 37%.
- Former Vice President Joe Biden beats Trump, 55% to 36%.
- Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., beats Trump, 56% to 38%.
- Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., beats Trump, 53% to 37%.
- Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., beats Trump, 53% to 39%.
- Despite the opposition to Trump in the state, 62% of New York voters said Trump will win re-election in November.
- Among Democrats, Sanders has the most support at 25%, followed by Bloomberg (21%), Biden (13%), and Warren (11%). Buttigieg and Klobuchar each have 9% support.
"Thirty-six weeks out, it does not appear that the Democrats' winning streak in presidential contests in New York — solid since Ronald Regan's reelection in 1984 — is in jeopardy," Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg said. "All six leading Democratic candidates currently lead Trump by double digits."
