Many government officials, both Republicans and Democrats, are working on ways to thwart WikiLeaks. That’s the group which has released secret diplomatic and military documents that may damage U.S. interests around the world. Sens. John Ensign, R-Nev.; Joe Lieberman, I-Conn.; and Scott Brown, R-Mass., have introduced a bill to foil Wiki by making it illegal to publish the names of our military or intelligence community informants, The Hill reports.
WikiLeaks has created a "hit list" for our enemies by identifying intelligence sources, Ensign says. “Our sources are bravely risking their lives when they stand up against the tyranny of al-Qaida, the Taliban and murderous regimes, and I simply will not stand idly by as they become death targets because of [Wiki founder] Julian Assange," he says. "Let me be very clear, WikiLeaks is not a whistleblower website, and Assange is not a journalist.”
