Spicer: Trump Approval Up Despite Constant Attack From Media

Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Monday hailed President Donald Trump’s latest approval ratings despite having "constantly been under attack" by the media.

According to the latest poll from NBC News/Wall Street Journal, Trump’s job approval rating current stands at 45 percent, up a single point from June. The poll was conducted from July 15-18, after the president’s summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The American people are hip to this idea that results matter," Spicer said in an interview on Fox News’ "Fox & Friends."

"And they're seeing the president get things done for them on behalf of this economy, on behalf of immigration, ISIS, foreign policy," he continued. "This president's doing exactly what he said he would do as a candidate and he's getting results for the American people. And people are rewarding him in terms of their approval rating."

Spicer also noted that Trump "made it very clear" in his all-caps Twitter warning to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani "that this country, under this leadership, is not going to stand for that kind of threatening language. And so I think that he better heed those words."

"If you're President Rouhani, you'd better get your team together real quick and re-do your talking points," Spicer said.
