White House press secretary Sarah Sanders is the favorite to serve as the next governor of Arkansas, according to a recent poll put together by her allies as she prepares to depart the Trump administration.
CBS News reported that Sanders' allies spearheaded a poll and found that she was the overwhelming favorite in the 2022 race. She was even ahead of the state's Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin, who also may run to serve as Arkansas' chief executive.
Republican strategist Ed Rollins told the news network that Sanders would be a strong candidate if she decides to toss her hat into the ring.
"She was an extraordinary talent when I worked with her when she was 25 years old, and learned an extraordinary amount since then," Rollins said.
"Huckabee is still a magic name in Arkansas. If she wants to run she will be tough to beat."
Sanders announced on June 13 that she will depart the White House at the end of the month. Since then, it's been reported that she is contemplating a run for Arkansas governor.
Sanders' father Mike Huckabee served as Arkansas governor from 1996-2007.
