Elected officials supporting sanctuary cities should be prosecuted, says David Horowitz, author of the bestselling book "Big Agenda: President Trump's Plan to Save America."
"Elected officials support this throughout our state, the Democrats," Horowitz said Tuesday on Fox Business Network's "Lou Dobbs Tonight."
"They all need to be prosecuted," he said. "This is lawlessness. This is worse than the riots at Berkeley. Much worse. You have a major American party that's anti-American."
President Donald Trump has threatened to withhold federal funds from sanctuary cities, and some California lawmakers have countered by threatening to declare the entire state a sanctuary state, where law enforcement refuses to cooperate with federal immigration officials.
Horowitz said he hopes Trump follows up on the threat of defunding.

"We have a leader of our state Senate [Kevin De Léon] just publicly said half his family is here illegally, and he's authoring a bill that would make the whole state a sanctuary state," he said. "In other words, we are going to welcome the criminal terrorists and anybody else who wants to run across the border. He should be prosecuted for sedition, as should our governor, as should the mayors of our big cities, Los Angeles and San Francisco, as should Janet Napolitano, the president of the University of California [Berkley] who made that a sanctuary campus."
Horowitz said he has waited 30 years for someone like Trump in the White House, and he hopes to see Sen. Jeff Sessions confirmed soon as attorney general and begin throwing the book at officials in sanctuary cities.
"The Democrats don't care enough about this country and its security, particularly at a time when war has been declared on us by these Islamic terrorists who are already here, but more of them want to come across our borders," he said.
