Condolences for radio talk show icon Rush Limbaugh, known to many as a major voice of conservatism, poured in Wednesday after his death from cancer was announced.

The accolades came from admirers coast to coast.

Trump administration Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeted that Limbaugh “made conservatism popular with the entire nation and revolutionized conservative media. He will be missed by all of his ‘ditto heads,’ this one included.”

Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., called him a “monumental figure.”

“His legacy as a monumental figure in radio, iconic voice for conservatives and devoted advocate for the First Amendment will live on,” he tweeted.

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., hailed him as “America’s Anchorman.”

“Rush Limbaugh was a freedom fighter, a stalwart conservative and a daily voice for millions of Americans,” she wrote.

Former Wisconsin GOP Gov. Scott Walker added his condolences on social medial.

“I started listening to him in 1990. Like so many, he opened my eyes to so many conservative ideas,” Walker tweeted.

Writer and editor Matthew Yglesias noted Limbaugh reached beyond his "ditto head" fans, writing he also influenced “very mainstream conservative writers, politicians, and operatives.”

Michael Harrison, founder and publisher of Talkers trade magazine, told USA Today that few would deny Limbaugh was one of the most influential commercial broadcasters, if not the most influential, in American history.

“Limbaugh’s radio talent an dedication to the medium are unparalleled in the modern talk industry," he said.

"At a time when the very future of radio and its talent pool could very much be on the wane in terms of cultural relevance and prestige, he raised it to a level of importance on a par with the most influential media platforms and players of our time.”
