CNN has been relegated to third place in the cable news battle because it has become "the all-Trump-bashing network all the time," conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said Thursday.
Limbaugh cited CNN's instant fact-check graphic that was on the screen during GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump's speech on Thursday in which he stuck by his comment that President Barack Obama had created the terror group ISIS.
The graphic read: "Trump Calls Obama Founder of ISIS (He's Not) – Fact check: al-Baghdadi founded ISIS."
Saying that CNN doesn't trust the intelligence of it's audience to understand Trump's nuance, Limbaugh said, "Hey, CNN, you know, you're falling to third place for a reason. The numbers are in. CNN has now fallen to beneath MSNBC. You have to try to do that. You have to make an effort to throw away that kind of an audience."
People don't want to hear CNN's constant Trump-bashing, including people who aren't Trump fans, he said.
"Whatever Trump says, whatever he's in the news for, it's a bash, it's a rip, it's a criticism," Limbaugh said. "Then they'll convene their roundtables to double down on it, and they'll have one Trump spokesman with four or five other people. "
CNN is "throwing audience away" and "bleeding" after having been No. 1 following coverage of the Democratic National Convention, he said.
