Giuliani: Kasich, Condoleezza Rice Good Running Mates for Trump

Rudy Giuliani wasn't happy Monday night about the alliance drawn between GOP presidential candidates John Kasich and Ted Cruz against front-runner Donald Trump, but he still thinks Kasich would make a good running mate for Trump, and he also likes former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

"Kasich, I figure Kasich can make the difference in Ohio," the former New York City mayor told Fox News' Sean Hannity, on his "Hannity" program after the talk show host asked him who would be Trump's best choice for a running mate. "You can put the two of them together."

Choosing Kasich would also give Trump "some of the things some of the people are looking for," said Giuliani, making a reference to Kasich's experience as first a U.S. Representative and then as a popular two-term governor in Ohio.

He compared the two to former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, "before they started attacking [each other]."

But at the same time, Giuliani called the alliance between Cruz and Kasich over control of Indiana, Oregon, and New Mexico "devastating."

"The American people are telling us something; they don't like backroom deals anymore...and what Cruz just demonstrated is that they can't beat him without making a backroom deal," said Giuliani.

The former mayor, though, also tossed out Rice's name, but didn't explain why. Rice is now a senior fellow at Stanford's Hoover Institution and has remained out of politics after leaving office.

Meanwhile, Giuliani said that he now "fully" endorses Trump "100 percent" and is urging other Republicans to get behind him.

"We may have preferred someone else, but he's going to be the candidate," the former mayor told Hannity. "Now, we have to do the best we can to make sure we defeat Hillary Clinton."
