The Democrats are using everything they can, including their "media allies," to attack President Donald Trump during the coronavirus pandemic, according to Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel on Newsmax TV.
"Having him [President Trump] be that calming presence every day at five o'clock is great for our country. It's bad for Democrats, though," McDaniel told Tuesday's "The Howie Carr Show." "It's bad for Democrats, though ... for them, it's about the election, and not solving the [coronavirus] crisis."
She said the Democrats will attempt to blame every death due to coronavirus on the Trump.
McDaniel pointed to several things Trump has done to help Americans during the pandemic, such as promoting the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine in treating coronavirus.
The chairwoman specifically mentioned how the drug helped Michigan State Rep. Karen Whitsett, a Democrat, to recover from the virus. Whitsett said she recently took the drug because she heard Trump tout its effectiveness in fighting coronavirus.
"She was not a fan of the president from a policy perspective," McDaniel said. "But she was sick ... and she said the only reason she knew about it was President Trump."
McDaniel also praised Trump in extending the national social distancing deadline to April 31 but stressed the importance of getting U.S. businesses back to work.
"There are ways to safely start putting industries back to work," McDaniel said. "He's said often, 'You can't let the cure be worse than the disease.'"
She added: "We don't want to dismantle our whole economy."
