Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel defended President Donald Trump's controversial tweet about MSNBC's "Morning Joe" host Mika Brzezinski.

Her comments came during an interview Thursday on Fox News.

Trump had tweeted:

But McDaniel sided with the president's decision to fight back.

"Now let's look at 'Morning Joe' and what they've said about the president since January," McDaniel said. "They said he has dementia. They said he's stupid. They've called him a goon, a thug, they said he's mentally ill. They said he's an embarrassment.

"This is the type of thing they say day after day for two hours on their network and they control the narrative and they push it out. Today, the president acted like a human and pushed back."
