There’s good news and bad news in the polls for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who almost certainly will run for the Republican presidential nomination next year. The good news is that he fares well in polls against President Barack Obama,
The Hill reports.
The bad news is that he doesn’t fare so well against potential Republican challengers.
In a Marist poll this month, Romney was in a virtual dead heat with Obama, eking out a 46 percent to 45 percent lead over the president. Romney was ahead by 3 percentage points among crucial independent voters and garnered support from 13 percent of Democrats.
But a recent Gallup poll put him in third place for the Republican primaries, behind Mike Huckabee and Donald Trump. And a Public Policy Polling survey showed the same thing.
