Romney Campaign Chair: Obama Plays Hypocritical Debt Blame Game

President Barack Obama’s attempt to place the blame for the nation’s debt and deficit on his predecessor George W. Bush is “hypocrisy of the highest order,” the national co-chair of Mitt Romney’s campaign charged in an appearance on “Andrea Mitchell Reports.”

Former Minnesota Governor and former presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty made his comments in response to a question about Vice President Joe Biden’s claim that Romney “don’t get” middle class or working class Americans.

‘I think we get Joe Biden and Barack Obama very well,” Pawlenty said.

“Vice President Biden hasn't been in the private sector since Gerald Ford was president. He has spent his entire adult life in government. He said the other day in a speech that he's glad he hasn't been in the private sector because then he would have to be accountable. This is the person the President dubbed the sheriff of spending and stimulus which turned out to be a joke.

“We have a president of the United States who called his predecessor George Bush unpatriotic and irresponsible for a deficit and debt level he left behind, now Barack Obama has made that exponentially worse. That’s hypocrisy of the highest order. This president wasn't ready to be president, he failed in getting this economy turned around, he’s had his chance. We need Mitt Romney as president.”

Pawlenty again tamped down suggestions he is in line for the vice presidency.

“Well, I'm going to do whatever I can to help Mitt Romney defeat Barack Obama because I think the future of the country is at stake and I think Mitt Romney is going to be a fantastic president for our country,” he said. “I’ll do whatever I can do to help him. He’s going to have a lot of great people to pick from. Obviously any one would be honored to serve if asked. I’ve just been telling people look, I think I can help in other ways but obviously anybody would be honored to serve if asked.”
