NBC News: Mueller Probe Looks at Flynn, Rohrabacher Meeting

Investigators in Robert Mueller's Russia probe are questioning witnesses about a September 2016 meeting that was alleged to have happened between Michael Flynn, who would later become President Donald Trump's national security adviser, and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., who has pushed for better relations with Russia.

The meeting was alleged to have taken place while Flynn was an adviser to Trump's presidential campaign, and included Flynn's business partners and son Michael G. Flynn, according to NBC News.

One source told NBC News that Mueller is looking at emails sent from Flynn Intel Group to Rohrabacher's staff, which thanked them for the meeting.

Mueller is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

The sources could not confirm whether, in the meeting, Rohrabacher and Flynn discussed U.S. policy toward Russia. Mueller's interest in the meeting and the possible discussion is the first known instance of a congressional member being involved in Mueller's Russia probe, NBC News reported.

Flynn was fired as Trump's national security adviser after 24 days over misleading Vice President Mike Pence over conversations with Sergey Kislak, Russia's U.S. ambassador.

In October, the House Foreign Affairs Committee restricted Rohrabacher's use of committee money for overseas trips, noting the congressman's "outside-the-box interest in Russia."
