RNC Launches New Anti-Obama Ad Targeting Hispanics on Economy

By    |   Wednesday, 20 June 2012 09:57 AM EDT

The Republican National Committee (RNC) has launched a new ad targeted at Hispanics that criticizes President Barack Obama’s economic policies as they pertain to that key demographic.

The video, which has been produced in Spanish and English, is titled “Our Family, Our Economy.” It includes audio clips from newscasts and printed snippets of news stories.

“Let me ask you about the economy?” the series of voiceovers begins, along with a photo of Obama. “Latino unemployment in the double digits. Rampant foreclosures. The unemployment rate up. For Hispanics the unemployment rate rose to 11 percent. Hispanic voters concerned about the economy. Unemployment among Latinos still in double digits. So this is seen as a broken promise.”

The text accompanying those comments reads, “How is your economy? Still struggling to pay the bills? Still struggling to find full-time work?

“After four years of President Obama, our economy isn’t better. Hispanic unemployment has skyrocketed to 11 percent; 2.3 million more Hispanics are in poverty. Hispanics are even more likely to be uninsured compared to four years ago. While Obama plays politics, Hispanics are suffering in the Obama economy.”

In a statement announcing the new ad, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said, "President Obama has let Hispanics down when it comes to creating good paying jobs and getting the economy moving again," The Hill reports. "He has not lived up to his promises to Hispanic voters, and the recent jobs report showed that Hispanics are doing worse, not better, in the Obama economy."
