RNC's Whatley: GOP in 'Great Place' to Flip Senate

By    |   Wednesday, 21 August 2024 03:22 PM EDT

While the presidential race has been the main focus this election season, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley gave an update on some downballot races across during a radio appearance Wednesday. Whatley said the GOP is in a "great place to flip the Senate," adding that it could hinge on West Virginia and Montana.

Whatley told Breitbart News Daily,"We win those two, we're going to win the Senate. I think others come along when [former] President [Donald] Trump has a good day on Nov. 5."

Whatley said Senate candidate Tim Sheehy of Montana is "in great shape" — 5 points up in polls — since Trump campaigned with him earlier this month.

As far as other races, Whatley said, "We're going to see candidates like Bernie Moreno [Ohio], Dave McCormick [Pennsylvania], Sam Brown [Nevada]. We're really in a strong position to be able to add to that majority in the Senate.

Regarding the race for the House, Whatley called it "trench warfare" and said Republicans will have to focus.

"We've got a two-seat majority right now. We've got a lot of really, really good candidates. I feel like we're going to be in a great position to expand that majority in the House, but we need everybody to buckle down," he said.

"We need everybody to go to Trump Force 47, sign up, join our grassroots army and go to ProtectTheVote.com, and help us make sure we have election integrity across the country."
