President Donald Trump has had to deal with the "Biden debate commission" changing its rules "on the fly and being stacked against the president," but at the end of the day, Americans want to see Democrat nominee Joe Biden being asked tough questions, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said Thursday.

"We have had moderators who are clearly Democrats and I think it is good to put a marker down that the American people want to see fairness," McDaniel said on Fox News' "America's Newsroom."

Biden, she added, "hasn't had any" tough questions.

"We don't want to know what kind of milkshake he will have today," she said. "We want to know about the fact he will raise taxes, (about) substantive issues, and I hope the moderator this time won't play differently with Donald Trump than she does with Joe Biden."

The growing news about Biden's son Hunter and his overseas dealings does need to be brought up, said McDaniel, even though there are some, including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who are suggesting that Trump shouldn't lead with that topic.

"We need to talk about the economy and the very different policy disagreements with these candidates," said McDaniel. "Joe Biden raising taxes coming out of a pandemic would destroy American families."

Mainstream media hasn't raised the issue about Hunter Biden and his "peddling access to his father when he was vice president and monetizing that office," said McDaniel. "It does seem like corruption. He now has a business partner coming forward and saying this is true. This needs to be vetted."

But moderator Kristen Welker should be the one to bring the topic up, not Trump, said McDaniel.

However, McDaniel said she does hope Trump and Biden really do talk about policy.

"President Trump is already pulling us out of this pandemic with 11.4 million jobs," she said. "You just saw the lowering of unemployment claims. You are already seeing with the PPP loans that this president has kept this economy afloat. Built the best economy before, he will do it again and on top of that, we're on track to a vaccine ... Joe Biden wants to raise taxes, embrace the Green New Deal. Gas prices will go up, home heating prices will go up and, every American will pay more under him."
