The Republican National Committee Friday slammed Hillary Clinton's apology in the spiraling controversy over her use of a private email account and server while secretary of state.
"What's clear is Hillary Clinton regrets that she got caught and is paying a political price, not the fact her secret email server put our national security at risk," said RNC spokesman Michael Short. "Hillary Clinton's repeated distortions of her growing email scandal, which now involves an FBI investigation, and her refusal to apologize only reinforce why three-fifths of the country doesn't trust her."
In an interview with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC,
Clinton said that she was "sorry" for making that choice and that she understood why many Americans had questions about the decision.
"At the end of the day, I am sorry that this has been confusing to people and has raised a lot of questions," the Democratic front-runner said. "There are answers to all of these questions, and I will continue to provide those answers.
"Eventually, I'll get to testify in public and I'm sure it will be a long and grueling time there," Clinton added. "But all the questions will be answered, and I take responsibility and it wasn't the best choice."
