Republicans Slate Millions for Additional Key Races

By    |   Thursday, 16 September 2010 05:23 PM EDT

The National Republican Congressional Committee is putting millions of dollars on the line to help GOP candidates finish first in their races in the party's quest to regain control of Congress. To move toward the goal, the committee is pumping money into several key districts — some of which it had not targeted originally, Roll Call reports.

GOP, Republican, Congress, controlAnd the committee is cranking up its spending even as Democrats are pulling back in some areas. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee just decided to trim its ad spending in Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District, represented by Democrat Chris Carney. So the Republican committee decided to inject $595,000 worth of ads in October for the Republican candidate, U.S. Attorney Tom Marino, in a district that wasn’t initially on its target list for spending, a source told Roll Call.

Other districts not originally included on the committee’s spend list are the 1st and 2nd districts in New Hampshire. Now it plans ad buys of $1 million in each district. The Republicans running there are Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta in the 1st District and former Rep. Charlie Bass in the 2nd.
