The list of official candidates for chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) has grown to three. Wisconsin Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus announced his bid Monday with a letter and a video to committee members,
Politico reports.
Priebus just resigned as RNC general counsel and was formerly an ally of embattled committee chairman Michael Steele.
He promises to bring “less drama, more hard work, more results and more focus on winning” for the GOP. “I will run a tight ship at the RNC,” Priebus wrote.
“I will keep expenses low. I will put in strong and serious controls. We will raise the necessary funds to make sure we are successful,” Priebus added.
The two other declared candidates for chairman are former Michigan GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis and former Missouri GOP Chairwoman Ann Wagner. Steele hasn’t announced yet if he’ll try for a second term when the 168-member committee meets in January.
