In a desperate attempt to fight off his Nevada Republican challenger Sharron Angle, Senate Majority leader Harry Reid is hosting at least four major fundraisers in Washington, D.C. in a two-week period. And Angle isn’t sitting still herself. She has pulled in more than $1 million in September alone, GOP sources tell
Roll Call.
As for Reid, “His fundraising has never lacked intensity, but it is definitely at a high volume just because the stakes are so high,” former Reid adviser Penny Lee told Roll Call.
Reid’s shindigs include a Sept. 15 breakfast hosted by the Democratic freshman Senate classes of 2006 and 2008 at a Washington hotel and a Sunday gathering at the home of former Virginia Gov. Chuck Robb and his wife, Lynda in McLean, Va.
Suggested contributions range from $500 to $5,000 at the events.
