Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid may be unwilling to consider cuts in Social Security, but some of his caucus members are. And they’re encouraging President Barack Obama to join them in trimming Social Security benefits by lifting the retirement age,
The Hill reports.

The rebels include Sens. Tom Carper, Del.; Dianne Feinstein, Calif.; and Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., who caucuses with the Democrats. They’re all offering public support for cutbacks.
“My sons are 21 and 22. Neither of them thinks Social Security is around for them. I want to make sure that it is,” Carper said. “It’s going to have to be a combination of very modest adjustments in benefits, very modest, and some frankly fairly modest changes with respect to revenues.”
