About one-third — 32 percent — of voters say that FBI Director Christopher Wray should quit or be fired over the agency's failure to take action on tips about last week's Florida school shooter, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll.
The poll's results:
- 52 percent say Wray should not be fired.
- 32 percent say he should.
- 16 percent are undecided.
- 60 percent have a favorable opinion about the FBI.
- 33 percent have an unfavorable opinion about the agency.
Breaking down the results by party affiliation, Democrats view the FBI more favorably than Republicans, while more Republicans believe that Wray must leave his FBI post.
Pressure on the FBI has ramped up after the revelation that the FBI failed to investigate a warning about mass murderer Nikolas Cruz, who confessed to killing 17 in last week's school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
The Rasmussen poll was conducted among 1,000 likely U.S. voters Feb. 19-20, with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points and a 95 percent level of confidence.
