Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., said Tuesday that President Donald Trump's recent attacks on her are distracting from more important issues, like the impending layoffs at U.S. Steel that were announced recently.

"The 'resident should focus on this," Tlaib tweeted with an arrow pointing to a tweet quoting a report on the layoffs, "rather than his hate agenda. Workers in my district see right through his pathetic attempts to distract from his failure to deliver on campaign promises for anyone but the 1%."

"U.S. Steel announced what it calls 'temporary layoffs' that will put 200 workers at its Michigan mill out of a job for at least six months. Bringing back steel is a constant Trump refrain," CNN reported Tuesday, according to a tweet from The Center for American Progress Action Fund.

Earlier that day, Trump attacked Tlaib after she became emotional and cried during a press conference about Israel's decision to bar her and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., from entering the country.

Trump tweeted:

"Sorry, I don't buy Rep. Tlaib's tears. I have watched her violence, craziness and, most importantly, WORDS, for far too long. Now tears? She hates Israel and all Jewish people. She is an anti-Semite. She and her 3 friends are the new face of the Democrat Party. Live with it!"
