President Donald Trump laid into both "All the President's Men" writers Tuesday, calling Carl Bernstein a "nut job" and accusing Bob Woodward of writing a "boring book" about him.
"Woodward's book last night, I read it," Trump told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "It's like lightweight reading ... Woodward's book to me was very boring, it was inaccurate. Let's put it this way. No matter what you did it was going to be negative."
Trump added that he wanted to give talking to Woodward a shot this time around, as he didn't talk to him for his book "Fear" and it "was a bad book."
"This time, well, I wanted to see if it could be done," said Trump. "The guy's a Democrat and works with The Washington Post ... I say it's the flunky for Amazon. You know all about The Washington Post. You don't get a break with them. But look, if you want to remain sane, just don't read it because what they do is disgraceful."
He also had harsh words for Bernstein, labeling him as a "dummy" after the famed Watergate reporter said on CNN that the president is "homicidal" for holding an indoor rally during the coronavirus pandemic.
"I know Carl Bernstein a little bit," said Trump. "He’s a nut job. He’s been a nut job for many years. I don’t have a lot of respect for either of them, frankly."
Bernstein, added Trump, "will say anything. No matter what you did. Like today, I’m doing a great deal with Israel ... no matter what you do, with some of the fake news, it doesn’t make any difference."
Trump also slammed the mainstream media for not reporting extensively on his being nominated for two Nobel Peace Prizes.
Monday night, Bernstein told CNN's Anderson Cooper that Trump held a "homicidal assembly" to help himself get reelected, and said Trump is "willing to sacrifice the lives of his supporters by holding an indoor rally."
"Let’s be very clear in what we’re looking at here: We are witnessing a homicidal president convening, purposefully, a homicidal assembly to help him get reelected as president of the United States instead of protecting the health and welfare of the United States, including supporters whose lives he is willing to sacrifice," Bernstein said.
