Poll: Trump Leads in Iowa, NH

Poll: Trump Leads in Iowa, NH

Trump is at the top of the GOP presidential primary field in both Iowa and New Hampshire, while Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is clipping Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the early voting states, a new CBS News/YouGov poll shows.

In Iowa, where caucuses take place next Monday, Trump is up 5 percentage points over nearest contender Sen. Ted Cruz, with the margin of error at plus or minus 7.2 percent.

Here's that breakdown:
  • Trump: 39 percent
  • Cruz: 34 percent
  • Florida Sen. Marco Rubio: 13 percent
  • Retired pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson: 5 percent
  • Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul: 3 percent
  • New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie: 2 percent
  • Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush: 1 percent
  • Ohio Gov. John Kasich 1 percent
  • Former business executive Carly Fiorina: 1 percent
  • Former Pennsylvania Sen.Rick Santorum 1 percent
In New Hampshire, which goes to the polls for the first-in-the-nation primary on Feb. 9, Trump is up 18 percentage points over Cruz, with a margin of error at plus or minus 6.8 percentage points.

Here's the New Hampshire results:
  • Trump: 34 percent
  • Cruz: 16 percent
  • Rubio: 14 percent
  • Kasich: 10 percent
  • Bush: 7 percent
  • Christie: 7 percent
  • Carson: 5 percent
  • Fiorina: 4 percent
  • Paul: 3 percent
On the Democratic side, the poll shows:

In Iowa:
  • Sanders: 47 percent
  • Clinton: 46 percent
  • Former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley: 5 percent
The margin of error is 8.9 percentage points.

In New Hampshire, the results show:
  • Sanders: 57 percent
  • Clinton: 38 percent
  • O'Malley: 5 percent
The margin of error is 8.2 percentage points.
