Republicans and Democrats disagree on many issues, and could not come to an agreement on what the nation's biggest problem is, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday.

The poll, conducted of 1,000 adults from April 26-30, shows that among Republicans 27 percent said the nation's most pressing issue was national security and terrorism, but 37 percent of Democrats said the top priority is job creation and economic growth.

Among Republicans, the other top priorities were:
  • The deficit and government spending, 24 percent;
  • Job creation and economic growth, 21 percent;
  • Religious and moral values 12 percent.
Among Democrats, the other priorities were:
  • Health care, 17 percent;
  • Climate change,15 percent;
  • National security and terrorism, 3 percent.
Overall, the top priority among Americans was job creation and economic
growth, at 29 percent, followed by national security/terrorism, 21 percent; and deficit/government spending, at 17 percent.

In a similar poll from March 2012, economic concerns ranked as the top worry for Republican primary voters, with 36 percent saying that was their main concern, followed by the deficit/government spending, at 35 percent, and national security/terrorism, at 8 percent.

The poll has an overall margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points.
