Incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., and Republican challenger Josh Hawley are locked in a tie in Missouri, a new NBC News/Marist poll reveals.
Both candidates are backed by 47 percent of likely voters. Only 5 percent of the voters say they are undecided in the race.
Forty-four percent of those polled in Missouri back McCaskill when Libertarian and Green Party candidates were included in the survey, compared to 40 percent for Hawley. However, the margin of error for the survey is plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
Here is how the Missouri poll breaks down:
- 41 percent have a favorable impression of McCaskill, compared to 49 percent who do not.
- 36 percent have a favorable view of Hawley and another 36 percent have an unfavorable impression of him.
- Forty-five percent say they approve of President Donald Trump’s job performance, compared to 46 percent who disapprove.
The poll, conducted Aug. 25-28, surveyed 930 people.
