Pelosi Exudes Confidence Democrats Will Retain House Control

Not too many people are upbeat about Democrats’ prospects in the midterm congressional elections in December. But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is one of them, The Hill reports. Democrats definitely will maintain control of the House, she told the paper.

Pelosi put on an optimistic face as the House returned from a recess, during which polls showed that the Democratic majority could be in jeopardy. The speaker begs to differ, instead expressing enthusiasm about the quality of Democratic candidates.

“They know who they are and why they came to Congress,” she said. “They have won their districts before, and they will win them again.”
