House Speaker Paul Ryan raised $15.4 million in the third quarter of 2016, taking his total collection this year to almost $50 million, which will be used to help House Republicans to hold on to their seats, the Washington Examiner reported.

Ryan, who had made it clear while joining office less than a year ago, that unlike his predecessor John Boehner, who spent weekends in fundraising, he would visit his family in Janesville, Wisconsin the report said.

Without weekend fundraising, Ryan still managed to amass $48.2 million. The good round of fundraising records this year provides the GOP with more cash in hand than House Democrats, who are eyeing risky Republican seats in November.

In the past 11 months Ryan transferred $31 million to fellow Republicans through the National Republican Congressional Committee, according to Politico.

The speaker also attended more than 80 events to bring in an additional $10 million for member committee's and his own fundraising entities — Ryan for Congress and Prosperity Action PAC.

Campaign aides pointed out that Ryan has also "revolutionized" the House GOP's online fundraising and raked in over $1.6 million in the third quarter for the House campaign arm, the National Republican Congressional Committee.

An additional $2.7 million was raised through online and email donations, according to Ryan's campaign team.

The third quarter haul comes after Ryan made August fundraising trips to a dozen states to help GOP lawmakers in hotly contested races. Last week, Ryan helped raise $550,000 at an even in Pennsylvania for Republican Lloyd Smucker, who is running to fill an open House seat.
