Paul Nehlen, who is challenging Paul Ryan for his House of Representatives seat in Wisconsin, said that Ryan's delay in endorsing Donald Trump for president is damaging to the country's voters.
"It's pretty shocking," Nehlen said in an interview on Breitbart News
"It's dangerous to the Republic that we have for the highest elected official to deny what's going on—the will of the voters."
Ryan's delay means the House speaker is "just not listening to the voters," Nehlen explained.
Political newcomer Nehlen will face Ryan in Wisconsin's August 9 Republican primary. Prior to his political debut, he was a business executive who holds several patents, according to his website
Nehlen has pushed policy positions that would align him with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, noting that the proposed Trans Pacific Partnership trade plan, including the U.S. and 11 Asian nations, would "forfeit our sovereignty as a nation," in an interview with Business Insider.
Saying that his support is on the rise during an interview with Madison, Wisconsin's Cap Times,
Nehlen mentioned his progress, explaining that "four weeks ago, I had no name recognition at all... In four weeks I popped to 15 percent."
Sarah Palin previously announced her support for Nehlen, claiming that Ryan "and his ilk" are so challenged by Donald Trump and Nehlen that "they're not thinking straight."
Nehlen wants Ryan to debate him "man-to-man" about Wisconsin jobs, according to a campaign video
. Nehlen also laid down a challenge of a physical kind.
"Maybe we can arm-wrestle," Nehlen said in the video.
