Manafort: Trump Not Releasing Taxes, 'Nothing to Do With Russia'

Donald Trump isn't going to release his taxes as long as they're under audit by the IRS, his campaign manager said Wednesday.

In an interview with "CBS This Morning," Paul Manafort reiterated Trump's refusal to make his tax returns public, even as the issues has come under renewed scrutiny in the wake of the hacking attack on the Democratic National Committee, and speculation about Russian involvement.

"Mr. Trump has said that his taxes are under audit and he will not be releasing them," Manafort said. "It has nothing to do with Russia, it has nothing to do with any country other than the United States and his normal tax auditing process."

Trump has resisted calls to release the tax returns — conservative columnist, and Trump critic, George Will speculates the returns might show "he is deeply involved in dealing with Russia oligarchs."

"So to be clear, Mr. Trump has no financial relationships with any Russian oligarchs?" CBS's Norah O'Donnell asked Manafort.

"That's what he said, that's what I said," Manafort responded. "That's obviously what our position is."

The campaign of Hillary Clinton is linking the hacked emails to Russian operatives, claiming the release of the damaging internal emails of the DNC before the party's convention is not a coincidence.
