Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said she has a "lot of concerns" over the GOP's new healthcare legislation, telling Yahoo's Katie Couric the Republicans need to "slow down and get this right."

However, Collins also stressed the American Health Care Act is also a work in progress and the bill today is markedly better than the draft senators saw last week.

"I'm not crazy about it," said Collins in an interview with Couric, anchor of Yahoo Global News. "I want us to slow down to take more time to be sure we get this right."

Collins does not like the fact her party's Obamacare repeal legislation would insure up to 10 million less people and have a deleterious impact on senior citizens in her state. Further, Collins takes issue with the phasing out of the Medicaid expansion going away in 2020 after Congress promised that to the states.

"I do not think it would be well-received in the Senate, but I do want to emphasize it's still a work in progress," Collins said. "The bill that was released this week is far better than the bill we were briefed on the week before, so who knows, maybe it'll eventually get better and thus will be better received in the Senate."
