Former President Obama office released a statement Monday saying Obama "fundamentally disagrees with any notion of discriminating because of faith or religion."

The statement says the former president is "heartened by the level of engagement" by Americans who have taken to "assemble, organize and have their voices heard" in defiance of the immigration ban instituted by President Trump over the weekend.

It's "exactly what we expect to see when American values are at stake," the statement read.
