Obama to Dems: GOP Did Well, But We Still Have Hope

By    |   Monday, 10 November 2014 07:49 AM EST

President Barack Obama tried to place the thrashing Democrats took on Nov. 4 in the best possible light in a thank you email distributed by the Democratic National Committee, Breitbart reported.

The email sent on Friday and signed by Obama urged party supporters to look to the future.

The president wrote that, "The hardest thing in politics is changing the status quo. The easiest thing is to get cynical."

He credited Republicans with having "had a good night on Tuesday" but added, "I want you to remember that we're making progress" in employment, healthcare and education.

"So don't get cynical. Cynicism didn't put a man on the moon. Cynicism has never won a war, or cured a disease, or built a business, or fed a young mind. Cynicism is a choice. And hope will always be a better choice," he wrote.

He concluded by asking those who shared his hopes for the future to "join the Democratic Party" and "keep building this movement."
