The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) released a TV ad Wednesday excoriating Democratic Pennsylvania Rep. Mark Critz for his support of President Barack Obama’s healthcare reform,
Politico reports.
Critz is locked in a tight battle with Republican Keith Rothfus, a former Homeland Security official, for the general elections. In the ad, a narrator says, “When Mark Critz first ran for office [in 2010], he said he opposed Obamacare and its cuts to Medicare. But since then Critz has opposed efforts to repeal or defund Obamacare 20 times. Obama’s radical policies are hurting us, and Critz stands by him.”
The NRCC’s decision to focus on Obamacare could indicate it thinks there are enough differences between Obamacare and likely Republican nominee Mitt Romney’s healthcare reform in Massachusetts so that the focus won’t bounce back to hurt Romney.
